Tip of the Month: Omaha
Texas Hold'em set the tone for poker everywhere, now Omaha brings it up a notch.
By using similar rules to Hold'em, Omaha players use 2 out of 4 pocket cards on a flop of 3,
giving each player 6 possible hands.

In North American casinos, the term "Omaha" usually refers to several poker games.
The original game is commonly known as "Omaha High".
A high-low split variant can also be played, which is known as "Omaha Hi-Lo",
"Omaha eight-or-better" or "Omaha/8".

In Europe, "Omaha" typically refers to the high version of the game,
usually played in Pot-Limit.
Pot-Limit Omaha is usually abbreviated as "PLO".
Pot-Limit and No-Limit Omaha eight-or-better can be found in some online casinos,
though No-Limit is seldom found.

The basic differences between Omaha and Texas Hold'em are these:
Each player is given 4 cards instead of 2.
The layout of community cards and betting rounds are identical.
At the showdown, each participants hand is the best 5-card hand he can make
from 3 of the 5 cards on the board, plus 2 of his own cards.
Unlike Texas Hold'em, a player can't play 4 or 5 of the cards on the board with fewer
than 2 of his own.
So, if you've had too much Hold'em, why not try the Texas card game?
